NSR-M stands for NeuroSpectral Regulation for migraine.
Bring your patients relief with an evidence-based,
non-invasive, preventative solution
What is NSR-M?
NSR-M stands for NeuroSpectral Regulation for migraine
Customized lenses that help prevent light-induced headaches and migraines in patients with interictal photophobia
NSR-M has been specifically developed and tested on acquired headaches and migraines, secondary to traumatic brain injury (TBI). Migraine can involve hyper-reactivity in the visual cortex and dysregulated neural networks that are normalized with NSR-M lenses. Rather than regulating activity from cones, rods, or intrinsically photosensitive retinal ganglion cells (ipRGCs) targeted by traditional photosensitivity lenses, NSR-M targets the brain.
While the precise causes of photophobia induced migraine are not yet understood, NSR-M has been shown to regulate an abnormal visual system response to specific wavelengths of light. NSR-M lenses are uniquely formulated to maximally regulate abnormal brain activity associated with spectrally selective photophobia and hyper-reactivity to light and visual stimuli. The result is the prevention of interictal development of light-triggered headaches and migraines.
NSR-M Benefits And Application
Recommend our lenses as a supplementary solution for your patients
NSR-M lenses offer immediate relief for light sensitivity and remove a common trigger to stop headaches and migraines before they start.
Our lenses are appropriate for addressing both primary headaches and migraines resulting from underlying photophobia, as well as secondary headaches and migraines resulting from TBI and concussion that are associated with light sensitivity and photophobia.
NSR-M lenses can be used in conjunction with other medical and optometric treatments without adverse side effects or drug interaction.
Who Benefits From Our Lenses?
NSR-M lenses are precision tinted with a personalized formula
Individuals that have experienced a traumatic brain injury and concussion
Individuals who suffer from light-induced headaches and migraines
Individuals experiencing visual disturbances related to post-concussive syndrome that are associated with light sensitivity
Individuals experiencing light sensitivity secondary to another medical condition
Evidence-Based Preventative Care
Feel confident recommending NSR-M lenses to your patients knowing they're backed by scientific research and proven results
A recent study among migraine sufferers reveals that NSR-M
individualized lenses have a much more pronounced
effect than off-the-shelf, one-size/color-fits-all alternatives.
NSR-M lenses reduced monthly migraine frequency from an average
of 15.0 to 1.9, with 74% reporting no migraines post-intervention.
Prescription and over-the-counter medication use decreased by more than 50%, and patients
reported significant improvement in light sensitivity, headaches/migraine severity, and other physical
and perceptual symptoms.

Frequently Asked Questions
NSR-M lenses are the only individualized, custom-formula filters available to address the unique visual processing sensitivities of each patient. Unlike FL-41 lenses and other notch filter migraine glasses that follow a one-size-fits-all model of addressing photophobia, NSR-M lenses adjust the visual signal uniquely for each brain. Our lenses will not color the environment like other types of colored lenses or darken people’s vision like sunglasses. A subjective index for the proper lens formula is that things “just look right” and are not distorted.
Our network of certified NSR-M providers is expanding monthly. We currently have providers servicing 16 major metro areas across the United States.
An assessment for NSR-M lenses involves a two-hour diagnostic protocol where a set of spectral filters, varying in hue and density, are systematically combined and layered to create a unique color formula that is then tinted to match the specific spectral curve as determined by a spectrophotometer and worn as glasses. The diagnostic protocol includes a variety of activities designed to stress the visual system (e.g., light tolerance, contrast sensitivity, letter and word reading, eye tracking) to determine the optimal spectral filter color – one that either eliminates or significantly reduces previously reported symptoms of distortion and discomfort.
